In 2018 Robert Piper was appointed Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations’ newly transformed Development Coordination Office (DCO) by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres. The role of the DCO is to provide support to the UN development system through improving the functioning of the UN development system, by supporting resource mobilization for system-wide financing priorities and facilitating inter-agency programmatic and policy collaboration and partnership for achievement global goals and Agenda 2030.
