Emma Wedner – Candidate to Advisory Council on Youth
We’re happy to announce that Emma Wedner is re-running for the Council of Europe Advisory Council on Youth, nominated by LSU – The National Council of Swedish Children- and Youth Organisations – and supported by the Nordic Baltic Cooperation.
She has just returned from the Joint Council on Youth of the @CouncilofEurope, full of energy to continue advocating for young people’s access to rights. Engaged in the challenging reality of shrinking civic space for youth in Europe, the Advisory Council’s mission is to shape policy and soft law that supports young people and youth organisations in both international networks and national contexts. With experience from the student movement in Sweden, an NGO at the intersection of peace and justice, and the immense insights gained from her first mandate, she is dedicated to accelerating this mission if re-elected.
Some of Emma’s AC work for 2024–2025 includes:
-
Serving in the drafting group on the Youth Perspective Reference Framework and following up on the 2023 Reykjavik Summit
-
Chairing the preparatory group for the Youth Event at the Ministerial Conference on Youth 2025
-
Acting as a Bureau member, coordinating the AC’s work on ‘Access to Rights’ (elected 2025)
Key themes in her work:
-
Addressing shrinking civic space and polarisation
-
Access to (social) rights
-
Outreach and awareness
Emma is excited to continue the conversation and share her ideas at emma.wedner@lsu.se.
